Inspecting the oldest television transmission mast in the Republic at Kippure, Co Wicklow, Minister for Communications Pat Rabbitte yesterday encouraged all remaining analogue TV users to make the switch to digital TV before the old system closes down next week.
The closedown takes place on Wednesday, October 24th.
“Our latest research indicates that by the end of September approximately 100,000 households still had to make the switch to digital TV,” Mr Rabbitte said.
“We’re also still encountering people who seem to think the switchover will not happen.
“This switchover will happen in a week’s time and there will be blank screens for those people who have not made the switch.”
Mr Rabbitte added that the digital system was already operational right across the State.
