Labour Party leader Mr Pat Rabbitte today attacked what he described as the "broken promises, deceit and smugness" of the Government.
Launching a May Day campaign aimed at getting people involved in politics, MrRabbitte said the first requirement was to generate trust.
He said: "The broken promises, deceit and smugness of this Government'sbehaviour before and since its re-election have badly damaged the trust thatneeds to exist between people and politics".
The party unveiled its new campaigning theme and slogan at Leinster House this afternoon.
The new slogan - "You're in power" - will feature on three types of posters to be posted nationwide from today. The new slogan will also provide the theme of the party's upcoming annual conference, opening in Killarney on May 9th.
Mr Rabbitte said that the party's new programme was designed to highlight "broken Government promises" and encourage people to get involved in campaigning politics.
"The first requirement of politics is trust - this Government's behaviour before and since its re-election has badly damaged the trust that need to exist between people and politics," he claimed.
None of the three posters depict party personalities, instead focusing instead on issues relating to health, education and government transparency.
