The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has warned shopkeepers and shoppers of possible incendiary bomb attacks over Christmas.

The PSNI fears dissident republicans could strike during the last-minute rush.

Owners have been urged to check premises before closing tonight and police patrols were to be stepped up.

In a statement assistant chief constables Duncan McCausland and Peter Sheridan warned: "An extra few minutes could make a difference."
