Two PSNI officers were injured, one critically, during a major customs operation on the Border today which ended with the seizure of almost 7.5 million smuggled cigarettes.
They were hit by a van which drove at speed and failed to stop outside premises near the village of Meigh, South Armagh, which were about to be searched.
The critically-injured policeman was airlifted from the scene by helicopter. The condition of the second officer is not believed to be life threatening.
The police officers were working in support of customs staff at the time.
