Police in the North are investigating the attempted abduction of an eight-year-old boy who was approached by a man trying to entice him into his car.

The incident occurred around 6pm yesterday in the Drumbeg area of Craigavon.

A man is alleged to have approached the boy and asked him to go inside his small blue hatchback car, which police believe may have been a new model Ford Fiesta.

When the boy refused, the man fled the scene. He is described as being six feet, two inches in height; of slim build with short dark hair and glasses; and having a mole under his eye.

He is also believed to have been wearing black trousers and a red top.

Police in Craigavon appealed for information.
