Prosecutor seeks death penalty

Havana - Cuban prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for a US citizen held in Cuba since 1996 on charges of working for a "terrorist" group in Miami, diplomatic sources said yesterday. The sources, who were familiar with the case but spoke on the condition they not be named, said Mr Walter van der Veer had been held in custody since his arrest on August 21st, 1996.
