The Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission has condemned moves by the British government to prosecute a Sunday Times journalist, Mr Liam Clarke, over a series of articles on military intelligence "dirty tricks".

The head of the commission, Prof Brice Dickson, said the matter would "further muddy the waters" surrounding security force intelligence units. He added: "The commission would be concerned that this threatens the right to free speech of journalists."
