A prisoner was strip-searched and had privileges withdrawn for 60 days after prison authorities accused him of receiving prohibited items during a visit from his mother and partner, the High Court heard.

Kenneth Ruth, a prisoner at Wheatfield Prison, Clondalkin, Dublin, was punished after an unscreened visit on January 21st. He claims the sanctions are in breach of the European Convention on Human Rights. His ex parteapplication for a hearing was granted.
