SYDNEY - Aborigines continue to die in prison at a higher rate than other Australians, with indigenous people 1.26 times more likely to die in jail than white prisoners, according an official report released yesterday.

Between May 1989 and May 1996, 96 Aborigines died in either prison or police custody, said the report by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Social Justice Commissioner, Mr Mick Dodson.
