This CD-Rom for three to six-year-olds puts on screen the distinctive, chunky toys sold by Fisher-Price: Kitchen Centre, Workshop, Talking Smart Street and three others. In each one there are tasks, with an emphasis on numbers and on doing things in the order set by the program. The games rehearse colour, shapes, listening to music and other pre-school skills.
While each of these seems useful and attractive, you can't help wondering if the child wouldn't be better playing with the thing itself, rather than on a screen representation of it. Some of the content may be pitched a bit low (basic colours shouldn't be a new area for those at the upper end of its target age-group) but our 3 1/2-year-old tester didn't complain.
