The President, Mrs Robinson, arrives in Boston today for her last visit to the United States as President, writes Joe Carroll from
Washington. Later in the week she will discuss the date on which she will take up her new post as UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
In Boston, the President will dedicate a memorial to Irish Famine victims on Cambridge Common.
Later, at a lunch organised by the IDA, she will meet the chief executives of US companies which have invested in Ireland. Also present will be representatives of some companies which the IDA is trying to attract to Ireland.
On Thursday, she will meet the UN Secretary-General, Mr Kofi
Annan, in New York to discuss the date on which she will take up her human rights post. Mr Annan has made it clear that he wants her to start by September 15th, when the annual UN General Assembly session begins.
