Pratt steps down as head of Tesco Ireland

Mr Maurice Pratt is to step down as chief executive of Tesco Ireland it was announced today

Mr Maurice Pratt is to step down as chief executive of Tesco Ireland it was announced today. Mr Pratt, who has held the post since 1997, now takes up the role of chief executive at the Cantrell and Cochrane group.

Mr Pratt will be replaced at Tesco Ireland by Mr Gordon Fryett who has previously worked as retail managing director and director of the international support office since 1998.

Tesco has 77 stores in Ireland, employing some 10,000 people. The company recorded sales of €1.525 billion in the year to February last, representing 7 per cent growth.
