A postmortem is expected today on the body of a man (53) who was shot dead in his home in Bray, Co Wicklow.
Vincent O'Brien, a father of one, was shot a number of times in the head and body at Kilbride Grove in Bray on Wednesday night.
Detectives discovered no indication of a break-in, suggesting the victim knew his killer and may even have spoken to him before the shooting.
Mr O'Brien was known to the Garda as a small-time drug-dealer. Among the possible motives being investigated is that the murder was a revenge killing for a recent assault on a more senior criminal figure in the area.
A young man wearing a hooded top and a baseball cap was seen running from the scene.
State Pathologist Prof Marie Cassidy is expected to travel back from London today to perform the postmortem after giving evidence in the Georgina Eager murder trial.
