A Portuguese visitor was in a stable condition in hospital yesterday after injuries received when he was attacked for going to the aid of two students being assaulted in Cork city centre. The unnamed visitor was walking along MacCurtain Street at 12.45 a.m. when he saw two students being set upon by two men. He went to help them and the men then turned on him, kicking and beating him. Gardai later arrested two men.
