South Korea and the United States qualified for the last 16, second round of the World Cup from Group D today.

The Koreans defeated Portugal 1-0 to top the group with seven points, while the United States went through with four points despite losing 3-1 to Poland in Daejeon.

Portugal with three points were eliminated. South Korea will play Italy for a place in the quarter-finals while the United States will take on Mexico.
