Rome - Pope John Paul, who played on a Catholic-Jewish soccer team in Poland before the horrors of the second World War, told the world of sport yesterday not to lose its soul in the search for records and glory.
A 70,000 crowd welcomed the Pope to Rome's Olympic Stadium, where he celebrated Mass as part of the Catholic Church's Holy Year events.
