Sinn Féin: cross-Border trek from Derry to Burt, Co Donegal attracts more than 3,000

Thousands of people have walked from Derry to the stone ring fort of Grianán an Aileach in Burt, Co Donegal, in memory of Martin McGuinness.

The former IRA commander, Sinn Féin politician and deputy first minister of Northern Ireland died a year ago, aged 66.

Sinn Féin said that more 3,000 people took part in the Chieftain's Walk to raise money for the North West Cancer Centre in Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry.

Among those who took part were the Sinn Féin president Mary Lou McDonald and former president Gerry Adams, as well as other Sinn Féin politicians and members of the McGuinness family.
