Taoiseach Enda Kenny has led the tributes to former Irish Examiner political correspondent Liam O’Neill, who died at the weekend.

Mr O'Neill was a prominent member of the Leinster House press corps, as a reporter and analyst, for three decades before his retirement in 2001.

He was described by Mr Kenny as "a very astute political analyst and a very experienced journalist, having written about most of the big political stories over the last number of decades''.

From Wexford, he is survived by his wife, Therese, three sons and a daughter.
