Clare: Fourth TD elected of four

Joe Carey was first elected to the Dáil in 2007 securing a second Fine Gael seat in the constituency for the first time since 1989. He is the son of the former minister of state Donal Carey. He served as the deputy government whip in the 31st Dáil and was a member of the committee on procedures and privileges. From Clarecastle, Joe Carey was a member of Clare County Council from 1997 to 2007 prior to his election as a TD.
