James Lawless, Fianna Fáil, from Sallins, was first elected to Kildare County Council in May 2014, representing Naas, with the largest vote in Kildare and the second highest Fianna Fáil election quota in Ireland. He was selected as a Dáil candidate in the spring of 2015. He has been involved in a number of community groups and has been campaigning for a better rail service for the Naas-Sallins area. A resident of Sallins, he is originally from Wexford and lived in Dublin before moving to Kildare. He studied maths and finance at Trinity College Dublin and worked in IT before training as a barrister. He is married to Ailish, a primary school teacher, and they have two children. He is public relations officer for Sallins GAA and secretary of Naas area Fianna Fáil branch.
