Dublin city constituencies say No to Seanad removal

Closest margin was Dublin North West which voted 54.7% to 45.3 % against abolition

All six Dublin city constituencies have voted against the referendum to abolish the Seanad.

The closest margin was in Dublin North West which voted 54.7 per cent to 45.3 per cent against abolition.

In the results just declared Dublin North East voted by 54.6 per cent to 45.4 per cent against abolition.

Dublin Central voted by 57.9 per cent to 42.1 per cent to retain the Seanad.

In the Dublin North Central constituency of Fine Gael director of elections for the Yes campaign, the electorate rejected the proposal by 54.8 per cent to 45.2 per cent.

In Dublin South Central the margin it was 57 per cent against abolition with 43 per cent in favour.

Dublin South East voted by 61.3 per cent against getting rid of the Upper House and 38.7 per cent were for.

The Dublin city vote covers six constituencies - Dublin Central, Dublin North Central, Dublin North East, Dublin North West, Dublin South East and Dublin South Central.

The final Seanad result was announced shortly after 4pm.
