Changes to water charges package to be debated in Dáil

Debate to follow measures introduced in bid to encourage registering with Irish Water

Changes to the water charges regime brought in yesterday are due to be debated in the Dáil this afternoon.

The debate is to follow the new water charges package which was announced in a bid to encourage people to register with Irish Water.

Minister for the Environment Alan Kelly has already said the Government would not be making any further concessions on the charges.

The package contained concessions and caps on charges, including allowances for all eligible households, and removed the necessity for consumers to provide PPS numbers to Irish Water.
