Moscow - Four policemen were killed yesterday in an attack on a traffic checkpoint near Moscow by gunmen who may have been wearing police uniforms, a police spokesman said.
"On Wednesday at around 3 a.m. Moscow time criminals attacked a GAI (traffic police) post on the way into the town of Dolgoprudny," the spokesman said.
"The corpses of two GAI officers and two members of the Patrol Post Service were found at the scene of the crime," he said, reading from a statement. The spokesman said top investigators, police and prosecutors had gone to the scene.
