The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) is investigating a "paramilitary-style" assault on a young man in Belfast this morning.

The man (21) was dragged from his bed by four men, brought to an alleyway in the city and beaten with an iron bar and hurley, a PSNI spokesman said.

The attack happened in the alleyway between Newbarnsley Crescent and Newbarnsley Park. The attackers were driving a silver car.

Police at Grosvenor Road station are appealing for information.
