London - Police in London yesterday said they feared a May Day protest named "Guerrilla Gardening" could spiral into violence with activists using spades and trowels as weapons.

Scotland Yard has mounted a huge surveillance in an attempt bid to minimise disruption over the bank holiday weekend.

Many organised and unofficial events are expected to take place during a four-day protest against global capitalism.
