Warsaw - The Polish Foreign Minister, Mr Bronislaw Geremek, warned the European Union yesterday that delaying its enlargement beyond 2003 would harm both candidates and the EU itself.

"We are concerned about unjustified opinions expressed by certain EU member-countries who talk about putting off enlargement," he said in an annual foreign policy address to parliament.

Poland is a leading candidate for EU entry.
