A plea to German MEPs to voice their support for the release of Ms Roisin McAliskey on bail in Britain was made last night by Fianna Fail MEP, Mr Niall Andrews.
He outlined the conditions under which Ms McAliskey was being held and told the European Parliament it was absurd to suggest that releasing her on bail posed any security implications.
Mr Jim Fitzsimons, the Fianna Fail MEP for Leinster, told the parliament it should give its assent to the European Energy Charter so that emissions from the Sellafield and THORP nuclear stations could be properly controlled.
