Police in Co Tyrone have made safe a viable explosive device brought into a police station by an unsuspecting member of the public.

The PSNI said this morning that a security alert at Dungannon police station had ended

Army bomb disposal experts defused a viable pipe-bomb device brought to the station, a PSNI spokeswoman said.

The police urged members of the public not to handle such devices and instead to call the police to deal with them.  The spokeswoman said an investigation into the Dungannon incident is ongoing.
