Fifty people were evacuated from their homes in Co Tyrone this morning following a pipe bomb attack on a house in Dungannon.

Fifty people were evacuated from their homes in Co Tyrone this morning following a pipe bomb attack on a house in Dungannon.

The PSNI said they are investigating an explosion which occured at a house in Windmill Court, Dungannon, shortly before 1am.

A window was smashed and a pipe bomb thrown into the kitchen, causing substantial damage to the room, police said.

There was no one in the house at the time and there are no reports of any injuries.

Army Technical Officers were called and some 50 people were evacuated from their homes until the area was declared safe.

Police have appealed to anyone with information on the attack to contact them.
