An investigation is under way after the pilot of an Aer Arann-operated flight failed a breath test before he was due to fly from Bristol to Cork on Thursday. Some 24 passengers were delayed by four hours due to the incident which affected an Aer Lingus regional flight, which is operated by Aer Arann.

Police at Bristol airport breathalysed the pilot, who failed the test. He was brought to a police station, where he passed a second test. He was released without any further action.

The flight, due to depart at 5.10pm, took off at 9.20pm after another pilot was sourced to fly the aircraft.
