Eleven SIPTU shop stewards, who claim to represent "the vast majority" of Aer Lingus's operative staff, have issued a statement condemning a picket on union offices on Wednesday over SIPTU's handling of pay negotiations and treatment of members at the airport.

The shop stewards, who include SIPTU worker-director Mr Willie Clarke, declared their full confidence in SIPTU's ability to "deliver on improved pay and conditions". Resistance to the new deal was strongest among Aer Lingus catering staff, who voted by only 55 per cent to accept it.
