A man in his 30s died when he was hit by a motorcycle at Rossaveel, Co Galway.

A man in his 30s has died after he was hit by a motorbike in Galway.

The incident happened at Rossaveel at about 9pm last night, a Garda spokesman said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to University College Hospital, Galway.

The male driver and female pillion passenger on the bike were taken to the same hospital with injuries not believed to be life threatening.

The road to the harbour in Rossaveel was closed pending completion of an examination by Garda forensic collision investigators.

Gardaí at Inverin have appealed for witnesses.
