Blackburn 2 Aston Villa 0:Blackburn's new owners had plenty to cheer as Morten Gamst Pedersen brought his scoring touch from midweek back to Ewood Park to complete a third Premier League victory in their last four games against Aston Villa.

Rovers, playing for the first time since being taken over by Indian company Venky’s, took the lead in stoppage time at the end of the opening period at Ewood Park thanks to Pedersen’s delightful looping free-kick.

The Norwegian star also fired home a cracker in his side’s 2-1 victory over the Republic of Ireland at the Aviva Stadium on Wednesday night.

He struck again midway through the second half to wrap up a comfortable victory for Sam Allardyce’s side.
