The Progressive Democrats' leader, Ms Mary Harney, took to the water yesterday to publicise her campaign to attract "the floating voter" from the deck of a barge on the River Shannon.
The event, at Portumna, Co Galway, was also staged to introduce party candidates living in constituencies bordering the Shannon. Among the eight candidates who joined her aboard the barge was former party leader, Mr Des O'Malley.
