There was another show in town but the Olympia was packed out for Paddy Kielty. He bounded onstage. "F. . . the MTV awards!" he roared, and set off on a rollercoaster of comic material that ranged from the political to the scatological and even included some comic songs. The ladsy scatology won't bear description here, but included a sometimes funny, sometimes not, routine about going to the toilet at Hillsborough.

Kielty was at his best with political material, with which he first made his name - how Blair appointed Mandelson just to annoy Paisley. He booms in the big man's voice: "first a WOMAN and now a HOMO-SEX-UAL!"

He followed it by suggesting that Daniel O'Donnell be appointed to head the RUC, did a neat take on Daniel inspecting the troops. His other targets included the "fighting gypsies" from Croydon who brawled on a plane, and Michael Flatley.

In all, an accomplished and entertaining show from the wired Kielty. But aren't we tired of Charlie Dimmock nipple references and Linford Christie penis jokes?
