ANKARA - A Turkish far-right party said yesterday it wash withdrawing its support from the Islamist-led coalition government, cutting its majority in parliament to a handful of votes. The announcement was made by Mr Muhsin Yazicioglu, leader of the Grand Unity Party (BBP), which has seven deputies in the 550-member assembly.

Meanwhile a Turkish court sentenced 10 students to jail, terms ranging from two to 12 years for membership in an illegal left-wing group in a case that attracted wide attention because of the students' claims they were tortured by police.
