The parents of British teenager Amanda `Milly' Dowler, who disappeared three days ago, appealed today for help in finding their daughter.

Her father Mr Robert Dowler told reporters it was out of character for Amanda, known as Milly, to go anywhere without letting her parents know, adding: "Someone somewhere must know something."

Her mother Sally said: "We're just desperately worried and we just want to have Milly back home with us."

The Dowlers made an emotional appeal for help at a press conference organised by Surrey police as officers grew increasingly concerned for Milly's safety.

The family said they were "numb" with worry about their daughter who they said was a happy child, who had been to the Pop Idols concert in London on Tuesday.
