This year's May Day march will be part of a festival against racism titled "Hello Friend", and surprise celebrity guests will take part. The event is jointly sponsored by the Dublin Council of Trade Unions, the Irish Congress of Trade Unions and the Belfast Trades Council.

All trade unionists are urged to take part in the march, which will start at 12.30 p.m. on Monday from Parnell Square, Dublin, and end at Liberty Hall where a ceremony takes place at 2 p.m.

Billed as "a celebration of Dublin's new ethnic communities", the programme includes One Voice, a performance of music, dance, comedy and poetry by Irish and international artists; "No Blacks, No Dogs, No Irish", an exhibition of posters by the National Committee Against Racism; and "My View", a photographic exhibition of the new community, organised by the ICTU Unemployed Centres. Family groups and children are welcome and food will be available at ethnic food stalls in Liberty Hall's social hall.
