Jerusalem - Israeli police opened fire on 100 protesters trying to prevent the demolition of two Arab homes in east Jerusalem, seriously wounding one man. Police used bullets and batons to disperse the stonethrowing protesters near east Jerusalem's Mount of Olives.

Mr Zaki Obeid Zaki was hit in the neck by a bullet and was hospitalised in serious condition while four other men and a woman were slightly hurt, police and residents said.
