Palestinian and Egyptian leaders plan to convene summit talks in Egypt tomorrow, a Palestinian cabinet minister said today.
Deputy Palestinian Prime Minister Nabil Shaath said that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak would discuss the results of a conference about the Middle East held by world leaders in London this week.
Mr Shaath said the two would meet in Egypt "to discuss the latest developments, support the peace process and the results of the London conference" held on March 1.
Egyptian officials said the summit would take place in the southern Sinai resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh.
Peace prospects have improved since Abbas, a moderate, was elected to succeed Yasser Arafat in January. Mr Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon declared a halt to more than four years of violence at a groundbreaking summit held in Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt on February 8.
