Commuter trains on the Clonsilla line have become dangerously overcrowded while bus services from Dublin 15 frequently take an hour and a half to reach the city centre, according to Labour TD Joan Burton.

Citing research which she said was carried out among a group of 60 residents from across her Dublin West constituency, Ms Burton said there were two clear messages to Irish Rail from Dublin 15 residents.

"Firstly, overcrowding on peak time services is at unacceptable and dangerous levels and must be immediately addressed through additional peak-time services.

"Secondly, it shows that there is demand for more off-peak services."
