Racing:Globetrotting Ouija Board could run in the Japan Cup after she attempts to regain the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf crown on Saturday week.
Ed Dunlop's five-year-old, runner-up to Intercontinental in last season's renewal at Belmont, is as short as 7-4 favourite with Coral to win the 10-furlong Grade One for the second time in three seasons.
"We will take it race by race. It is clearly a lot of travelling at the end of a long season," said owner Lord Derby. "Clearly there is no question of going on if it is not the right thing for her.
"She will go on to New York and then travel to Tokyo.
"It (the Japan Cup) is very much in our plans at the moment, but we'll take it each step at the time and only try and do what's right."
Ouija Board this term added the Vodafone Nassau Stakes and Prince Of Wales's Stakes to her CV - that includes four other victories at the highest level.
Touched off by Dylan Thomas in an epic Irish Champion Stakes last time, she is likely to face 11 rivals in the £2 million Grade One at Churchill Downs.
Lord Derby added: "She seems as good as ever and Frankie (Dettori) rode her again in work last week and said she's absolutely still as a keen on racing as ever and felt as good as she's ever felt under him.
"So we feel pretty good at this stage and very relieved that Frankie is available to ride.
"I've had enough of this drama and worry about who is, or who isn't, available."
Dunlop decided to swerve Newmarket's Champion Stakes in favour of a trip to Kentucky.
"It was not that difficult to bypass the Champion Stakes," admitted Lord Derby. "Of course, it would have been nice to have a go at another British Group One.
"But if there is one thing we've learned about her, it is that she does like to go on the top of the ground and the ground looked shockingly soft 10 days ahead (of the Champion Stakes) and the weather forecast gave her no hope.
"Ed is pretty laid back, but inwardly, I know he feels the pressure of these great races.
"She's done her last bit of fast work and we'll hope to keep her ticking over and hope for a better result than last year."
