The sister of a man who won £4.2 million sterling in the UK Lottery eight years ago was ordered by the High Court yesterday not to reduce her assets here below €231,363. The order was granted to Mr Jason O'Sullivan, a greyhound trainer, of Clondalkin, against his former partner, Liverpool-born Ms Catherine English.
Mr O'Sullivan alleges that he held a joint account, which contained €470,557, with Ms English, a hairdresser, of Ashwood Road, Clondalkin.
In 1994, Ms English's brother, Mark, won £4.2 million in the UK Lottery. Mark English sent them a cheque in their joint names for £125,000 sterling. In 1996, he and Ms English bought, in their joint names, Kentucky Cottage, Nangor Road, Clondalkin, including three acres, which was financed by a mortgage of £85,000. Last December, they had sold the premises for £657,000 and had bought for £150,000, in their joint names, a house at Ashwood Road. A sum of €470,557 had been lodged in a joint account in the Bank of Ireland in Clondalkin.
He had been told by the bank on June 4th that the joint account had been closed by Ms English. He believed that, unless she was restrained, Ms English would dissipate the monies or remove them to another jurisdiction.
