A fire at a scrap metal recycling plant in Oranmore, Galway has been brought under control.

A fire at a scrap metal recycling plant in Oranmore, Galway has been brought under control.

Three units of the Galway Fire Brigade tackled the blaze at the Galway Metal Company which broke out just before noon and succeeded in extinguishing the flames within an hour.

Recycling equipment and a number of vehicles were destroyed but no injuries were reported.

The cause of the incident is not yet known and is currently under investigation.
