A 24-year-old man has been killed in a car crash in Co Cork making him the fourth person killed on Irish roads today.

A 24-year-old man has been killed in a car crash in Co Cork making him the fourth person killed on Irish roads today.

He was named as Thomas O'Brien from Clogheen House, Kilroe, Kanturk. He died after the car he was driving crashed into another car near the deceased man's hometown at 7.30 am.

He sustained serious head injuries, gardai said, and was taken by ambulance to Mallow Hospital, where he died at 8.55 am.

Two other men were injured in the collision, one seriously, and a further two men, both passengers, escaped injury. All are from the locality.
