The gaping chasm between Celtic and Rangers and the rest of Scotland's top flight clubs was underlined this afternoon as the Old Firm notched up ten goals between them to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League.
As Rangers were walloping Kilmarnock 6-1 at Ibrox, Celtic were running up a 4-1 away win over third-placed Dunfermline.
Rangers continue to head their Glasgow rivals by a single point but Dunfermline are now 12 points further adrift and any doubt that the title race would be a two-horse affair has now been dispelled.
Kilmarnock had held Rangers to a draw on the opening day of the season.
But the Premier League leaders showed they were in no mood to endure a repeat of that result with Michael Mols grabbing a brace in the first 15 minutes.
Ronald de Boer and Barry Ferguson added two more before Stevie Fulton pulled one back for Killie a minute before the interval.
Australian defender Craig Moore made it five and Ferguson rounded off the rout with his second, from the penalty spot, twenty minutes from the end.
Celtic did not have things all their own way at East End Park and found themselves under intense pressure early on.
Henrik Larsson scored his 18th goal of the season and Alan Thompson produced a glorious strike to put Celtic in control by the break.
But Dunfermline refused to lie down and Craig Brewster pulled a goal back before Bulgarian international Stilian Petrov and Chris Sutton killed them off.
Hibernian moved up to fourth - and ahead of Edinburgh rivals Hearts - with a win away at Aberdeen, Grant Brebner's goal 20 minutes from the end being good enough to snatch three points the visitors barely deserved.
