Tugs have separated two massive oil tankers that collided 15 miles off the United Arab Emirates port of Fujairah in the Gulf.

A spokesman for British Petroleum said the British Vigilanceand Stena Kingsaid there is no sign of oil in the water.

Earlier, the operations manager for the company that manages Stena Kingsaid there were no casualties. The extent of damage is not yet known.

Stena Kingwas carrying 450,000 tonnes of oil from Saudi Arabia to the Gulf of Mexico. The tanker has a crew of 43 crew, mainly British officers and Filipino sailors.

British Vigilance, which was empty, was steaming towards Dubai for repairs when the collision occurred.
