O2 Ireland increased its customer base by 10 per cent to 1.5 million in the year to the end of March, the company's annual financial results has showed.
The cell phone group announced a 13 per cent increase in service revenues to €816 million.
Turnover for the full year was €859 million, up 13 per cent from €762 million last year.
EBITDA increased 9 per cent to €327 million, up from €300 million last year.
Irish customers were among the biggest contributors to the group's profit.
O2 Irish customers spend on average 209 minutes on their mobiles per month up from 197 minutes during the previous year.
This compares to O2 UK customers who spend 137 minutes per month on their mobile phones and O2 Germany customers who spend 118 minutes per month on their mobiles.
The number of text messages sent increased 13 per cent to 1.351 billion from 1.193 billion in the previous year.
Mobile data grew to 21 per cent of service revenues for the year, from 20 per cent in the previous year.
O2 Ireland's chief executive Danuta Gray said: "We are particularly pleased to have increased our customer base by more than 10 per cent and achieved double digit growth in revenue, a significant achievement in a highly competitive market".
The company's parent O2 topped average forecasts with a maiden dividend of 2.25 pence and 29.3 per cent higher core earnings, as strong growth in Germany helped offset a tough UK market.
O2, Europe's sixth-largest mobile group, said full-year earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose to 1.768 billion pounds ($3.25 billion) for the year. But an 18.4 per cent rise in revenues to £6.683 billion pounds missed average forecasts.
