Tyrone forward Stephen O'Neill looks set to go under the knife and may be out of the game for as long as seven months.

Manager Mickey Harte revealed today that the attacker needs knee surgery soon.

"Stephen probably needs surgery and that will possibly happen in the forseeable future," said Harte. "I understand that the recovery time will be six to seven months and it is likely Stephen will miss the most of next season's National League.

O'Neill has been suffering with tendonitis for some time now, while there is also a tear behind the knee cap.

Continuing to play, says Harte, has also effected the Clan na Gael clubman's hamstring.
