As expected John O'Mahony has tonight been confirmed as the new Mayo senior football manager as he takes over from Mickey Moran.

O'Mahony, who has signed-up on a three-yesr deal, will bring in his backroom staff of Kieran Gallagher, Tommy Lyons and Martin Carney.

When last in charge O'Mahony guided Mayo to the 1989 All-Ireland final. He has also managed Leitrim and won two All-Ireland titles (1998, 2001) when in charge of Galway.
